Harsa was founded in Paris, France by Lancelot Hardel and Ulysse Sabbagh.
We started working together in 2021 but have been making software since 2008 during the early days of the iOS App Store. We witnessed first-hand the metamorphosis of software engineering and products from mobile apps and the cloud to the generative AI age.
We take inspiration from—and have some nostalgia for—the unofficial indie, often native iOS & macOS app movement, companies like Panic, Phantom Fish, Rogue Amoeba, and Red Sweater.
Our philosophy rests on four principles:
- Human-Centered: Our designs serve customers, not metrics
- Reliability: We aim to make fast, simple, bug-free products
- Open: We make interoperable, no lock-in products
- Independently published: We do not take money from outside investors (and when we finance other companies, we apply the same logic where decision-making rests with the makers)
